B.Modern Alternative - M-Sand (Manufactured Sand)
M-sand - a sand manufactured in the factory by crushing the stones. Sands are made of small pieces of rock, which comes from crushing large rocks.

Features of M-Sand: 
Artificially produced Angular and rough particles Controlled quality Widely available 

Advantages: 
1.Because of this, m-sand is now widely        utilized in the construction industry, as it      is considered to be the best alternative to    natural sand.
2.In many localities, it is less expensive           than river sand. 
3.Open all year round Uniform quality The     bond strength between the cement and     the concrete was strong. 

Due to the good strength provided by M-sand, many engineers prefer to use it in concrete work.

Disadvantages
1.A slightly rough texture when compared      with a river sand. 
2.Needs appropriate washing and grading     If it is not of good quality, the M-sand         can cause problems during construction

3. Sea Sand – Not Recommended for Construction

The sea sand is obtained from the sea shore or beaches.

1.Contains salt
2.Very smooth texture
3.Very plentiful by the coasts.

Why Sea Sand is NOT used:
Sea sand is a mixture of salt, very harmful to buildings. Salt can cause:

1.A steel rod corrosion problem inside concrete.
2.Steel rod corrosion in concrete.
Over the course of time weak structure prevailed.
3.Cracks and damage to buildings.

Although large quantities of sea sand are available, its use is generally discouraged unless it has been treated (washed and processed) which is expensive.
